Just Believe

I have been playing with my new stamp sets for a few days now and I think I have made a card using each one of them.  This one was made for a friend's birthday.  She reads my blog so hopefully, she will have received her card before she reads the blog!

This card uses the Just Believe stamp set.  I think this is one of the sets that was given to demonstrators at SU's convention this summer.  Sadly, I had to purchase mine!  Well, I guess really, they purchased theirs when they payed to attend convention, forked out $$ for a hotel & plane ticket ... maybe mine was cheaper!  I keep saying I won't buy anymore floral sets, but they are just too hard to resist!!

This next card does not use a new set.  It is the final Monday Mailer that I sent to Naomi for August.  It uses one of the Decor Elements stencils that I love.  I sponged the flower in Peach Parfait (In Color) and Pumpkin Pie and used the Greenhouse Gala DSP to accent the card.  The ribbon is Peach Parfait

Have you been enjoying the Labor Day weekend?  I have.  Marianne came over Friday and spent the night so we could work on our projects for the upcoming SU Quarterly meeting we will be attending in Shallotte.  We are doing several swaps - a Christmas Tag swap (which I am coordinating), a Holiday card swap, a 6x6 recipe swap and a Shoebox card.  I am also doing a demo for the event that I have to prepare for 32 people.  A lot to do!!  But, we made a lot of headway on Friday and Saturday.  I actually have everything done except the recipe card!  I am so proud of myself.  Marianne also got a good start on her projects and I think only has the recipe swap to finish also.

Sonny & I went out on the boat for a few hours this afternoon.  The weather is starting to cool down a bit and it was nice.  But, I hear the humidity may be coming back next week.  I hope not!

Well, enjoy yourself tomorrow!

Kernersville Quarterly Swaps

For the Kernersville SU Quarterly, I am participating in a 3-D Swap, Summer Mini Card Swap, Friday Night Shoebox Card AND a 6x6 Technique page.
This is my 3-D Swap.  I borrowed the Milk Carton Die from my friend, Judy (thanks, Judy!) and made this birdhouse for the Oriole.  I need to get some grass to put inside!

This is the card I designed for the Shoebox Swap using Tropical Party.  It is a gatefold card.

I guess I forgot to take a picture of my other swaps and they are already packed up.  I will take pictures of all the swaps when I receive them and share them when I return.

Here's some more of the beautiful flowers from the Botanical Gardens.

I want to get some of this for my front little hill.

Open House Make and Takes and Tags

Today the local stamp store in Mooresville had their annual Open House.  I met my sister over there and we did a couple of make and takes (see them below), had a "calorie-conscious" lunch (salad bar) and did some shopping.  I so enjoy spending time with my sister now that I live close.  That is something we have never been able to do unless I was here in NC visiting.  I left NC right after I got married and she was only about 13 at the time and I have been gone over 30 years!.  So, this is definitely a perk to living here now.

The Make and Takes from today.

I also participated in a Tag Swap at the stamp store and received my tags back today.  There are some very talented ladies out there!!

These tags were made by my sister, Marianne (the Christmas village one) and by me (Christmas tree).

Another Swap

I did another swap last month and just got my cards back.  Wow!!  They are really great.  These are images from the new catty as well as the mini catalog.  This is Jami's swap (who is an ex-Dirty Girl on SCS) so the cards are always good. They always have lots of layers.  I always participate in her swaps for that reason.  I'm worried though that she will be giving up Stampin' Up because of the new rules.  She also designs for other companies.

More Swap Cards

Isn't it so sad about Patrick Swayze?  I can't tell you how many times I have watched Dirty Dancing.  One Sunday when we lived in Washington and it was one of those cold, dreary days there, I watched a Dirty Dancing marathon.  I think I watched it 3 times that day!!  Is that crazy?  I just wish I could dance like that!  My sister, Marianne's all time favorite Swazy film is North-South.  I can't remember if I saw that one or not.  I'm watching the Barbara Walter's special now of his last interview.
I received 2 more cards in the mail this week that were sent separately from the swap that I was in.  So, I wanted to share them with you.
This first one came with "how to" instructions.  To create the tiny squares which showcase the hearts, begin by punching with Photo Corner punch.  Finally, trim the piece LEFT ON the punched cardstock to create a tiny little square!

3 D Card Swap for Quarterly

Well, I wasn't going to enter this swap (as I told you, Judy).  But, Friday, during a weak moment, I did it!!  And I made 18 of them (using different papers) on Friday!

The card opens up and can be used just as a card or you could put a Gift Certificate inside.  I have a small magnet under the top note and between the designer paper and the cardstock on the "card part" to hold it closed.
