Did you notice the "I've Been Published" on my side post?  Well, I was approached by Papers and Pixels  (an onlinecrafting  magazine) last August to write an article or a tutorial for them.  With us being in Texas in August and again in December, I put it off until after the first of the year to give me time to come up with something.  I decided to do a calendar tutorial using My Digital Studio.  The magazine covers a wide range of crafting projects - digital, paper crafting, scrapbooking, etc.  Subscription rates are very reasonable at $12.00 per year, or $1.50 per issue.  The back editions, September 2010 through August 2011, are available for free, and you can purchase the September 2011 through January 2012 editions individually for only $1.50 each. Here’s the link to subscribe to Papers and Pixels Online Magazine: http://www.papersandpixels.com/forum/showthread.php?t=890   My article appears on page 97 if you decide to purchase a copy.

Here are a few of the cards we are making this month during the February Club.

This card is a Wow and so easy.  It uses Mixed Bunch and the Blossom Punch from the Occasions Mini catalog.

This is another easy one.  It uses the Twitterpated DSP along with the Stripes Embossing Folder which you can get for FREE during Saleabration.  The colors are Blush Blossom and Island Indigo.

And here's another great one.  This uses several items from the Occasions catalog -  the Apothecary stamp, the Framelits Labels Die and the Adorning Accents Edgelits Die.  (The ribbon is retired.)
Hope you have a great week!

Published Again plus my Monday Mailer Bonnet Card

Last Saturday, Marianne and I met at "M's" to do a little shopping before we went to the movies.  She was looking for a glue gun so she could make some fabric flowers.  While she was paying for her purchase, I walked over to the magazines and was thumbing through "Stampers Sampler."  Lo and behold ... what did my wandering eyes discover but a card by "moi" on page 12!  This makes about 3 cards that I have just randomly discovered in their magazine but have not been notified.  It clearly states in the back of the magazine "if you are published .... you will receive notification via postcard."   Well .... it ain't so!!  I even sent them an e-mail last year asking why I wasn't notified of my publications so I could at least go out and buy the magazine!!  This was the Feb/March issue and it was the last one in the store.  So, here is a picture of my card:

I received the cutest Monday Mailer yesterday!  Cathy made a little bonnet on the card and, to protect it in the mail, she put a Sweet Treat Cup on top which I just took off when it arrived.

Here is a close-up and side view of the little hat.

Published!!

I had another card published!  My upline, Carol, called me from Washington Sunday to tell me.  She said she was thumbing through Stampers Sampler at Michaels and saw my name.  So, she had to buy the magazine.  I haven't bought the magazine yet but it is on page 9 I think she said.  I haven't sent any cards to them!  I sent a bunch to Take Ten last spring or summer.  Since they are owned by the same company, I guess they share cards sent to them.  They are supposed to send you a free magazine when they publish your work, but I've been published about 4 times and only received a freebie once!  I don't usually buy Stampers Sampler Magazine because it is not really my style - it's a little too "artsy" for me.  So, if Carol hadn't called me, I wouldn't have know.

Go check it out!!

I'm published!!

I picked up a copy of  Take Ten magazine, Autum edition yesterday while in town.  Last night, while catching up on my "soaps," I browsed through the magazine.  What to my surprise, there was one of my cards on page 91!!!  I sent a bunch of cards to them many months ago and had given up on seeing them in the magazine.  They used to send you a complimentary copy of the magazine when they printed your card so you would know it was in there.  But, the last two times I have had a card published, I have just stumbled upon it.  It's still a good feeling!!

Here's the card and the "write-up" -

I'm published!

I picked up the recent copy of Stampers Sampler Catch Up issue a few days ago.  I just had time to look through it tonight and wow was I surprised!   I found one of my cards in the book!!  If you have the issue, check on page 85 at the top of the page and you'll see my card and my name!!  Isn't that nice?  This is the third time I have had a card in their magazine and it is still such a thrill!

Here's a copy of the card from the magazine.  I took pictures of the cards when I sent them away but that was at least six months ago and I think I have deleted them from my computer so I had to scan the magazine!  I sent in about 10 cards.

There's not a lot of stamping involved on this card - just the words, love and cherish.  I used some patterned paper that my friend, Judy, had given me.  I  cut the circle out with my Nesties and paper-pricked around the edges of the heart.  The white "X" stitching marks are made with some white twine.  It's hard to tell, but the base card is Elegant Eggplant.  This was a Sketch Challenge several months ago.

take ten catch up issue

I'm just sent in about 20 card to Take Ten last week.  So, maybe I'll have more good publishing news in a few months!
