Love You to the Moon

Hope your weekend was a good one like mine was.  Saturday my two downlines (Marianne and Debbie) and I went to a Shoebox Swap at another demo's home in Conover.  There were 14 of us there and we made some great cards.  I got so many good ideas for stamp sets in the Occasions and Sale-a-Bration catalog.  I will be posting them in the next week.

These are the cards that Marianne and Debbie made.

Marianne - Vivid Vases from Occasions catty
I just love the saying "Love You to the Moon and Back."  I haven't decided if I'll get this stamp set but I do love this particular stamp for it's saying.

After the Stamp-a-Stack, we met the family for Angela's birthday dinner at Sagebrush in Mooresville.

Sunday I did a little house cleaning in my stamp room.  I worked on a few projects that I have had for a long time and just decided to put them together.  Not sure what I will do with them but they are made anyway!  Sonny and I watched the Super Bowl.  I was sure surprised with how badly Denver played.  I thought it would be a close game with the winner being determined in the last few minutes.  Boy, was I surprised!  I was pulling for the Seahawks even though I picked Denver to win in our football poll.  Saw a stat that said Denver has now lost more Super Bowls than any other team in history.   I didn't even win any of the Super Squares and had some good numbers.  I wasn't very impressed with the commercials this year.  Loved seeing the Budweiser and Coke commercials and my man, Bob Dylan in a commercial.  Lots of car companies this year.

Thought this was cute - with the white Bronco (representing Denver) being chased by the Seahawks!  Reminiscent of the O J Simpson chase many years ago.

Ahhhh Chooo!

Got a cold?  This project's for you!

Here is another little 3D project I made Sunday while watching all the pre-Super Bowl interviews.

The DSP is non Su - some paper I found in my closet where I have my stash!!  The ribbon flower is one I made months ago and never used.  I found it on my desk and it matched!   This little tissue box was much less complicated than yesterday's project.  I found a "how to" video on You Tube that I watched to make this tissue box.  Here is the link to the video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P0cducd4pcw&feature=related

What did you think of the commercials during the Super Bowl?  My favorite was the Chrysler Dodge Ram's tribute to the farmer and my least favorite was the GoDaddy.com commercial - really tasteless and revolting!  I also liked the Tide commercial and the Budweiser Clydesdales.  What was your favorite?  Watch them all here -   http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=super+bowl+commercial+2013
I think Sonny was fast forwarding through some of them because I don't remember seeing a lot of the commercials that I saw at that link.  I really like this Coke one - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGkD8uIqCGU but don't remember seeing it either.

Get Well

Whoo Hoo!  The Ravens won the Super Bowl tonight.  I was pulling for them rather selfishly.  I didn't want San Francisco 49ers to win because they would have had as many Super Bowl Rings as the Steelers did.  It was a really good game and at the end, I was on pins and needles pulling the Ravens through.  In the last 20 seconds, the Ravens scored a safety which I didn't like.  See, I was playing in one of those football squares games and I had the winning score UNTIL they scored that safety.  I would have won $250!!!  Grrrrrr .... I was P.O'd!  But Sonny and I did win the football pool we have been playing all year.  Sonny came in first and I came in tied with 2nd place.  We had to guess what the total points were going to be at the end of the game and I came closer than the gal I was tied with so I got second and she got third.  I think I get $40 but beggers won't be choosy!  Sonny gets $200 for first place!!  Quite a difference in pay out for 1st and 2nd, huh?  At least we are keeping it in the family.

I spent today working on a couple of projects.  I am going to NC Demos Quarterly in March and am participating in a 3D Swap.  So, I tried out a couple of things today.  I just love this Get Well Box that I made but I think it is too involved for a swap.  It will depend on the number I would have to make.  We'll see.  Right now, I'm just auditioning projects!

I found the tutorial for this cute box here -  http://kingsonpaddington.blogspot.com.au/2012/09/get-well-kit.html

I used a sheet of DSP from Sale-a-Bration, Madison Avenue and paired it with Island Indigo, Tangerine Tango, and Sahara Sand cardstock.  The band-aide stamp on the front is also from Sale-a-Bration - Patterned Occasions.

Here is the inside:

There is supposed to be a throat lozenge holder next to the kleenex holder but I didn't have any to measure so I could make the holder for it.  I will have to buy some and add them later.  This might be something cute to make in Stamp Club.  I'll keep that in mind.

Have a great week!

Bootiful Thanks

Punxsutawney's famous groundhog predicts spring will come early this year.  Yay!!  With thousands watching on Gobbler's Knob in west-central Pennsylvania, Punxsutawney Phil emerged from his lair Saturday but didn't see his shadow.

I've been working on my thank you cards and have even gotten them mailed!  Yay for me.  This one uses the Bootiful Occasions and some retired DSP.  The DSP is Well Worn and is on the Clearance rack so if you want it, scurry over there and put it in your cart.  The "thank you" is stamped with the Itty Bitty Banners set which is available FREE for Sale-a-bration.

Hope you are enjoying your weekend!  Who do you predict will win the Super Bowl tomorrow?  From everything I am hearing, it is a hard one to predict.  I will be pulling for the Ravens for a couple of reasons.  This is the final game for Ray Lewis, a veteran player for Baltimore, and I would like to see a win for him.  Also, if San Francisco wins, they would have the same number of Super Bowl rings as the Steelers and I don't want that to happen!!  Whatever happens, I hope it is a good close game.

Super Sunday

I've been a busy girl!  I'm on a roll with making cards and trying to build up my stash while playing with my new goodies.  See all those cards above?  I've made all of them in the past 3-4 days!   I have several birthdays on my calendar for February plus I started the Monday Mailer program again so I need some cards.  I'll be sharing them with you over the next few days.

You saw the baby card I made for my nephew yesterday in THIS post.  Well, I made another one for a friend whose grandson was born a few weeks ago - 3 1/2 months early. His weight has just gotten up to 2 pounds on Thursday.  Cathy was a good friend and in my Stamping Club until she moved to Georgia last month.  I got her started with card making and she was hooked from the very first class!  I miss her but she moved to be closer to her family and now with the new grandbaby, I'm happy for her.  Here is the card I made for her.

This one is a little different from the other one that I made.  I added a little placket down the front with Itty Bitty heart shaped buttons.  Either way, they are fun to make.

Most of the cards I have been making are CASE'd from some that I have seen on various websites from samples from SU's recent Leadership trip in San Antonio.  There were a lot of good ideas and I tweaked a few of them to come up with my own version.  Like this one:

This card was made using the new Blossom Punch (pg 17 of mini catalog).  I punched the hole with the punch in the white cardstock and backed it with paper from Flirtatious DSP.  Next it was backed on Wisteria Wonder cardstock.  I punched a Melon Mambo circle (1") for the center and topped it with a button.  I punched a few flowers out with the Boho Blossoms Punch using Pretty in Pink and Wisteria.  The Wisteria circle at the top is from the Button Sizzix Die   The banner is from the Take It to Heart stamp set (pg 14, mini) an the saying is from Blessings from Heaven stamp set.  You can see a close up below.

Well, back to watching the Super Bowl. I'm pulling for the Giants.  No matter - at least it is a good game this year.  Nine minutes left - so anyone's game at this point with score 15-17.  I'm not a huge Madonna fan but thought the half time show was ok.  At least there wasn't any wardrobe malfunction - that I could tell anyway!  I much preferred Blake Shelton and Miranda at the beginning of the Super Bowl singing the National Anthem!  I'm enjoying most of the commercials though this year.  We were supposed to go to a Super Bowl party but ended up cancelling because Sonny was not feeling well.  He has had sinus "gunk" going on for several days.  I was disappointed but what can you do?  Hopefully he will be feeling good soon.

Steelers Are Going to the SUPER BOWL!

Knock, Knock, Knocking on SEVEN's door!  Pittsburgh will be advancing to the Super Bowl to try and get their seventh Super Bowl Ring!  Unbelievable!  I have not been a believer this year.  All season I told Sonny there was no way Pittsburgh would make it to the playoffs much less the Super Bowl.  Well, let me be the first one to admit that I was wrong.  They beat the Jets tonight in a great game.  We have some very good friends - ex-neighbors - who are die-hard Jets fans and I offer my condolences to them.  We texted each other all throughout the game - nothing mean spirited - but they did admit at the end of the game that they were bad losers and were not happy.  I'm sure I would have felt the same way.  We went over to the sports bar around 3 pm to watch the earlier game - Green Bay against Chicago in which the Packers won.  So it was a long day spent sitting in a bar watching football!  Now, we hope to get tickets to Steel City Bar in Pittsburgh for the Super Bowl game like we did a few years ago when Pittsburgh played Arizona in the Super Bowl.  That was a fun time!!

Here are a few action shots I took during the game -

Our friends - Mike & Barbara - who just moved to NC from Pittsburgh in August.  We met them at the first game of the season and have saved seats for each other all season.

Marianne & Sonny - yes, she is that short!

Marianne & Me geared up for the game!  Me in my Terry Bradshaw jersey - Marianne with Polamalu jersey.

Sonny is stripping off the first shirt and getting down to his "rally shirt"!  He had another one under that one "just in case."  The blonde lady behind him became his new best friend during the game.  Mike thought Sonny would move over to their table after the half!!

Marianne was sending Ashley messages all during the game on the internet.  The game didn't come on until 2:30 AM for Ashley but she's a fan and stayed up all night to watch the game.  We talked to her when we got home after the game - 7:00 AM her time and she was going to try and get some sleep.

This is our Knome Mascot.  We won him at the first game and he has set on our table during every game.  That is a "Bad Call Brick" on his head that we bought when we went to Pittsburgh.

Sonny - intensely watching the end of the game!

Super Bowl Sunday

Got your chips, dip, beer, etc. ready for the SUPER BOWL?  Although, I have to say, I'm not as excited about it this year as I was last year.  I couldn't help thinking all weekend that I was in snowy Pittsburgh last year this time feeling the hype of the Steelers being in the Super Bowl.  Oh well, I'm hoping next year we'll be in it again in Dallas!  Ashley has season tickets to the Cowboys games so I assume she would get a chance for Super Bowl tickets since the Super Bowl will be at the Cowboys stadium next year.  Of course, who am I kidding?  She would either sell them to get the big bucks or she and her Dad would be sitting in the stadium while I was watching from home!!

I'll be watching the game tomorrow night from home.  No big plans this year.  I'll be pulling for New Orleans too.  I think it's like a Cinderella story that they are in the Super Bowl (plus, I get a little sick of hearing about Peyton!!)

Marianne and I enjoyed "Dear John" today.  I would recommend it to you chicks out there.  The only drawback was the theatre was filled with teenagers with their cell phones and whispering and snickering during the love scenes.  I was about to make a scene and tell them to SHUT UP!!  I'm used to going to the movies during the week when Sonny & I are about the only ones in the theatre!  Just getting old and crotchety, I know!
