Go Wild Collage Frame

My new neighbor's daughter had their first grandchild in October.  With the holidays and all the craziness in the fall, I wasn't able to get around to making something for him.  Well, finally I did and took it to her Tuesday.  She was thrilled!

Check out my baby collage.  She had told me that their nursery theme was animals so I dug out all the animal stamps I could find!  I used the DSP from Stampin' Up's Go Wild stack.  The animal images are from various stamps I had - not all Stampin' Up.

NC Demos SAB Blog Hop

Welcome to the first NC Demos Blog Hop!  A group of NC Stampin' Up demonstrators have decided to start a monthly blog hop.  We will be publishing our blog hop on the last day of the month.  So make sure you mark your calendars and check out our blogs and our great projects each month!

For January, we have decided to focus on items from the Sale-a-Bration Catalog.  Remember - for every $50 you spend, you can choose an item from Sale-a-Bration for FREE!!  There are some great stamps and papers in the catalog.  Also, there are a few items that are only offered for a limited time (pg. 16 - 18) so if you want one of those items, you'd better grab them now!

I love making Framed Collages so that is what I have done this month showcasing the Flowering Fields stamp set (pg 12) and Perfectly Artistic Designer Series Paper.  Instead of making my collage in a 12"x12" frame like I normally do, I found this frame on my shelf and decided to use it.  The opening is 9 1/2" x 7 1/2".  I matted each DSP square with Basic Gray card stock and matted the whole thing on Smoky Slate card stock.  You can see all the other items I used by scrolling to the very bottom of this blog post.

Next I made a card using the same stamp set and a few other goodies to go along with the framed piece.

I love the Pool Party Glitter Ribbon!  (pg 9 Occassions)  I also used other Sale-a-Bration items - Perfect Pairings (Hooray!) and Botanical Gardens Designer Vellum Stack (pg 4).  I hope you enjoyed my portion of the Blog Hop and will hop on over and see what Mary has made to share with you.

Fall Collage

Marianne and I went to Ikea last night in search of more frames.  We are both working on making more collages to frame for gifts.  I will be offering kits for sale of several designs when I return from my trip.  Here is one of them .... to wet your appetite!!  The kits will have everything stamped and cut out.  You will just have to put it all together - the fun part!!

After Ikea, we headed over to Concord Mills to the new Vera Bradley Outlet store!  We are both so excited that we finally have a Vera store near us.  Whenever I visit Ashley, I always go up to San Marcos to the outlets there and make a very expensive stop at Vera Bradley!  I am on their mailing list and had received a birthday discount coupon in the mail.  So I really got a deal.  I bought a purse and a wallet which were both marked 50% off already.  With my 20% birthday coupon, I ended up basically getting 70% off each item!  Darn - I should have bought more!  But, if truth be told, I really didn't need what I bought.  But who NEEDS a new purse???

We are headed out in the morning for D.C.  We will spend the night at Ashley's and then the three of us will head up to Pittsburgh Thursday when she gets out of class.  We have tickets to the first game of the season for the Pittsburgh Penguins Thursday night.  No major plans the rest of the week-end except visiting some of our favorite eating places in the area - Danny's Hoagies, The "O" for hot dogs, any one of several Italian restaurants in the area, and maybe we'll even discover some new hot spots!  Hopefully, the menagerie here at my house will behave themselves.  Marianne and Angela are going to be coming over to check on them while I'm away.

I have not had much luck with blogging with my Kindle but I will try.  No promises!  If not, you will hear from me next week.

Collage Art

NOTE:  New items have been added to CLEARANCE!!

Yesterday was a rough day for me!  I didn't get to bed until 2 a.m. with plans to sleep in.  But I woke up around 8:30 and the room was spinning.  Darn!  That old vertigo got me again.  I haven't had it in several years.  I didn't do anything most of the morning - felt nauseated, weak and just blah!  I didn't feel like eating but finally got a piece of toast down around noon.  I had to get to feeling better 'cause I had some gals coming over at 2:30 to make a collage art piece and I didn't want to disappoint.  I finally took a pill for motion sickness that Ashley had given me several years ago.  It did the trick!  So we got our art piece done and had fun doing it.  They loved it.  We are planning on doing one in early June for 4th of July if you are interested.

After the gals left, I took a nap and then sweet talked Sonny into going out to eat!  When I got back home, I had a message on the home phone but couldn't get our phone to work - no service.  I had forgotten my cell phone when we went out to eat and when I checked it, I had a message from Marianne to call her. Evidently my family was trying desperately to get in touch with me to let me know my cousin, Bobby, had died of an apparent heart attack.  What a shock!  He was just 49 years old and the sweetest kid you'd meet.  He has had a hard life but had gotten himself back on track after being into drugs big time in his 20's. His sisters are taking it real hard of course.  Their family has had a tough few years.  Their mother died last year and their father has died since I moved back to NC.  Now it's just the two sisters, Jane and Candy, left.  My sisters and particularly, my brother, are also taking it hard.  Jane, Candy and Bobby lived down the street from us when they were growing up and they were real close to Marianne, Angela and Lee as they were all 2-3 years apart in age.  I was 12-15 years older and gone from home when they were all growing up.  Just goes to show that you never know when your time is up so you need to live your life to the fullest while you can.

I participated in the Paper Craft Challenge this month and made this card with MDS.
